I received an eager email from a prospective career college attendee about their orientation day at their new school. The prospective student seemed full of joy and excitement! You could tell the sky seemed to literally be the limit for this student! Below you will find a few commonalities to expect at your career college orientation.
1. Expect to park 100 to 200 meters away from the building. These career colleges (CC) tend to have high enrollment. Depending on the location you may share your parking lot with grocery store patrons, factory workers, or an adjacent daycare center.
2. Expect to have your picture taken for your ID on a dated ID software system. You can expect your ID in 2 to 4 weeks.
3. You will listen to several presentations about how your CC is superior to a traditional education and how although this was your 3rd or 7th choice you will still be getting a quality grade A education. The best education that the government's money can buy!
4. You will meet with financial aid or FA...But don't worry, if you didn't qualify for at least $57,000 in free money from the government for your associates degree...or if your parents weren't loaded...you would not have made it this far!
5. If you're lucky you'll hear a speech from your campus president (CP) or campus dean. Take pictures...chances are you won't see your CP again until you graduate.
6. Hopefully your CC will have your books ready the day you attend orientation. Chances are you don't actually have a bookstore on campus. Also the ISBN is hidden. But if you make friends with someone in administration and they give you the ISBN for your books, you can look up and purchase your books online. This will save you hundreds a term!
7. Not impressed with the facility? Well, if you deserved state of the art, I'm sure one of your top 3 to 7 choices would have accepted you and you'd be paying a third of the price in tuition as we speak!
Best of luck Fall CC new students!!!

Today at work I was assaulted by one angry mop and pail in the student lounge... Does anyone have any similar horror stories to share?
